Shitake Burgers

Designed for mushroom lovers, this recipe calls for two shitake mushrooms to hold each Doc’s Amazing Low-Fat Beef Patty instead of a bun. No sauce or cheese is needed to enhance the rich tastes of the beef, the two whole shitake mushrooms, the caramelized onions, and the tomato.

Spray a nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray, add mushrooms, cover, and
cook over medium low heat for about 15 minutes, turning once. Remove from skillet to cool.

Cook the sliced onions in a nonstick skillet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray until well browned; stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove from heat and set aside.

Reheat the Doc’s Amazing beef patties

Assemble the shitake burgers by placing a slice of tomato on the  concave surface of a cooked shitake mushroom, followed by stacking the beef patty, the onions and the microgreens, and top with another shitake mushroom.

This one may drip like the fast food burger ads you’ve seen on TV, so be careful where you’re dripping, and then savor the rich tastes of the beef and the mushrooms.
